Traveling back from the Treasure Island Sport Kite Festival, we decided to stop somewhere for sushi. One quick look at three different iPhone apps told us that Jimmy’s Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant (formerly known as Blowfish Sushi Restaurant) in Seminole, Florida was the place to go. The iPhone app and urbanspoon ratings caused us to turn around and go back over three miles. They open at 5:00 PM on Sunday and we got there at 5:15 PM to find an empty parking lot. We decided to check the door anyway and found they were open. Whew! While that made us skeptical, the ratings told us we should check it out.
A half hour later, the place was packed. As mentioned in numerous reviews, Jimmy made everyone feel at home and the staff was very efficient.
Then there’s the food. We started with the Tampa Roll, which featured deep-fried grouper. Great start! We moved on to one of their featured specialty rolls, The Mount Fuji Roll. Oh, my! It can only be described as pure Sushi Succulence! If you live anywhere in the Tampa Bay area, you need to drive to Jimmy’s and order the Mount Fuji Roll, which explodes with flavor that just sneaks up and borders spicy.
Menu Description
Tampa Roll: Fried grouper, onion, mayo. $6
Mount Fuji Roll: xxx $15 (easily serves 2)
A great sushi experience and a well-deserved 9.8
